Name of Presentation:  Mechanisms of Change in Occupational Therapy Interventions

Presentation Description:  Second-year students in the Occupational Therapy Program at St. Scholastica will present a series of topics on mechanism of change in OT interventions. These presentations focus on the mechanism of action that explains why a given intervention should work based on theoretical and scientific-based data. Students will also present information on does the intervention work, based on a search of the rehabilitation literature. Four concurrent sessions will be offered in the first half hour and another four in the second half hour for a total of 8 presentations (participants will select two).

Presenter Bio:  all presentations will be provided by teams of four second-year students in the Occupational Therapy Program at The College of Saint Scholastica.

  • Identify the concept of mechanism of change in occupational therapy interventions;

  • Explain the mechanism of action for selected occupational therapy interventions;

  • Describe the volume and quality of research evidence on selected occupational therapy interventions

Target Audience: Occupational Therapists, Occupational Therapy Assistants, and Occupational Therapy Students.
