Course Description: The 2016 University of Minnesota Occupational Therapy Department feasibility research study concluded that Meditative Movements  may be effective in reducing anxiety, depression, and fatigue, while improving emotional well-being and functional well-being for persons with chronic health conditions. Come and learn how this empowering technique works. You will explore simple daily self-care exercises that support your own self-care. Then we will discuss your client's needs.

 

Speaker Bio: Ellie Peterson, creator of Meditative MovementsTM program, studied fitness and psychology at the University of St. Catherine where she graduated in 1992. She has taught thousands of people how to apply the Meditative MovementTM technique so they can enjoy their lives more fully. Because her personal practice has spanned more than 30 years, she now shares her well-being insights with others. Ellie is the author of Meditative Movements and Power of Positive Aerobics DVD.

Learning Objectives:

  • Explore Mind/Body Connection
  • Learn a fun affirming movement program that empowers your mind, strengthens your body and energizes your spirit.
  • Create and discuss integrating the movements into your own practice.

Target Audience: OTR, OTA, OTS with interest in mental health OT.
