Event Description:
This conversation will include:

  • Criteria that FW educators must meet to host students and successful ways they’ve done so
  • Challenges that FW coordinators face when placing students and successful placements
  • Alternative FW experiences in 2020 by students
  • Discussion opportunity among attendees

Speaker Biographies:
Lindsay Marth, MA, OTR/L, BCPR, BCB is an Occupational Therapist and pain clinical specialist at the Minneapolis VA Health Care System. Lindsay has a Bachelor of Science in biology and Master of Arts in Occupation Therapy.  After working in community mental health for 5 years she joined the VA in 2013 to work in their Comprehensive Pain Center. She has completed her certification as a Therapeutic Pain Specialist and is both AOTA Board Certified in Physical Rehabilitation and BCIA Board Certified in Biofeedback. In addition to clinical work Lindsay enjoys serving as her facility’s OT clinical education coordinator, teaching in the community and VA system, and representing as a pain and biofeedback subject matter expert for the VA at the national level. Lindsay is also committed to advocacy and was selected for the VHA OT Field Advisory Council in 2019 engaging in the evidence based practice, emerging practice areas, and education workgroups.

Tom Hutton, MA, OTR/L is an Occupational Therapist and Academic Fieldwork Coordinator for St. Catherine University’s Occupational Therapy Assistant program in St. Paul. Tom has a Bachelor of Arts in Physical and Health Education and a Masters of Arts in Occupational Therapy. After working in acute care at the University of Minnesota Medical Center (UMMC), Tom spent many years as a traveling OT throughout the country before returning to UMMC to work as a staff OT, and also the OT student education coordinator for UMMC-East Bank. Tom joined St. Kate’s OTA program in 2016 working for both for the campus program and the online programs he is committed to clinical education and has guided OTA students and fieldwork sites throughout MN and the country for both level I and level II clinical experiences. Along with coordinating fieldwork placements, Tom is currently an account manager for Triage Staffing, a nationwide healthcare staffing agency and assists OTs, PTs, SLPs and RNs in contract/travel positions throughout the US.
