Speaker Biographies
Julia Sterman, OTR/L, PhD,is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Occupational Therapy at University of Minnesota. She also has experience in pediatric therapy in schools, clinics, and early intervention. In her research and teaching,Dr. Sterman seeks to increase inclusion and well-being of people with disabilities by changing environments, including addressing ableism and racism within occupational therapy practice and education. She is interested in shifting occupational therapy practice to be more anti-racist and neurodiversity positive in action-oriented ways. Dr. Sterman.

Lindsay Eisenmenger is an Occupational Therapy Doctorate student at the University of Minnesota Rochester. Her primary interests are also within pediatric occupational therapy, with a general passion for promoting self-acceptance and self-advocacy for children of all (dis)abilities. Lindsay has previous experience working with Autistic children through ABA therapy, but has switched her focus to support independence and autonomy, rather than compliance-based therapies. She hopes to integrate the knowledge she's learned through this research study in her future OT practice in either a hospital or outpatient setting.

Erin Gustafson is an Occupational Therapy Doctorate student at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities, getting ready to begin her first level 2 fieldwork in the fall. Erin's primary interests lie within pediatric occupational therapy, with a unique interest in supporting autistic and neurodivergent children using a positive neurodiversity approach. Erin has experience working with autistic children through her role as a Mental Health Practitioner in a day treatment program. She hopes to integrate the knowledge she has learned through this research study in her future OT practice in either a school or outpatient setting.

Learning Objectives
Participants will:
    •    Understand the importance of including the Autistic perspective in OT services
    •    Consider what Autistic adults value in pediatric therapy services
    •    Identify ways to align pediatric occupational therapy services for Autistic children with the values of the autistic community
