Event Description:
This course will include:
    •    A review of the evidence on Trauma Informed Care and statistics on sexual trauma. Additionally, education on best practices for trauma informed care, screens/assessments and referral sources.
    •    A demonstration of my online learning modules made for St. Mary’s Health Clinic with select active learning activities showing how one can implement trauma informed care education within their clinic. 


Speaker Biography:
My name is Sydney Busker is a third year OTD student at St. Catherine University. My fieldwork experiences were at a NovaCare hands clinics and Mayo Clinic Charter House short term rehabilitation. I am open at this time in my interests but particularly enjoy older adults, home modification and have an interest in OT being implemented into primary care. I am from Detroit Lakes, Minnesota and enjoy playing golf and being outside!

Learning Objectives:
Participants will:
    •    Understand the impact of sexual trauma on wellbeing for the local Latina population
    •    Apply concepts of trauma informed care to their work
    •    Acquire tools to implement trauma informed care education within a clinic

Level of Content: Introductory /  Intermediate

AOTA Practice Area: This presentation can be applied to all practice areas. The main focus will be on Children & Youth, Health & Wellness, and Mental Health.
