Event Description
Assistive technology encompasses many specialty areas. Even people with expertise rely on others in the AT community to stay current with innovation and trends. This course will include:
  • Introduction to several community resources for assistive technology
  • Discussion regarding industry trends, coverage, and how to learn more
  • A resource list
Speaker Biographies
Caroline Portoghese, OTR/L, ATP/SMS, MSCS, LNHA, MBA has 25 years of clinical experience. She has worked in specialty clinics in seating & wheeled mobility and assistive technology and general OT in outpatient rehab and post-acute care. She has also worked in custom seating, and industry in a research and development model. She currently works in complex rehab/medical supply at Handi Medical.

Tamara Vos-Draper, PhD, OTR/L, ATP, SMS has 25 years clinical experience and has been on faculty in the OT program at the University of Minnesota since 2017. Areas of expertise include assistive technology (AT) and seating and mobility.  She currently teaches an AT course in the OT program and conducts research in the area of pressure injury prevention in wheelchair users using pressure map visualization as a feedback tool in a mobile app.  She has had an Assistive Technology Professional (ATP) certification since 2009 and Seating and Mobility Specialist (SMS) certification since 2014.
