Course Description: As reimbursement systems shift from volume-focused services to value-based practice, occupational therapy practitioners are faced with opportunities to make the benefits of occupational therapy services known.  The three major systems of value based purchasing (VBP), quality reporting program (QRP), and quality payment program (QPP) will be overviewed. Some of these systems are already impacting settings and a significant number of settings will be impacted beginning October 1, 2019.   Opportunities present in more accurately presenting evaluation and intervention findings and using measurements that support occupational therapy outcomes. Occupational therapy practitioners have an opportunity to advocate for their role in providing value-based services and quality outcomes for clients in advance of these mandatory reimbursement changes.  Specific outcome measures and resources for evidence-based interventions that support occupational therapy efficacy will be provided that connect to the VBP, QRP, and QPP quality measures. Strategies for advocacy will be discussed and a panel of occupational therapy practitioners from various settings will share their experiences in preparing for the reimbursement changes.
