This presentation will provide information on preparing for the NBCOT
national certification examination, as well as the examination application
process and the benefits of certification.
The mission of NBC
OT is to serve the public interest by advancing client care and professiona
l practice through evidence-based certification standards and the validatio
n of knowledge essential for effective practice in occupational therapy. N
BCOT demonstrates these practices by developing, administering, and continu
ally reviewing the certification process based on current and valid standar
ds that provide reliable indicators of competence of the practice of occupa
tional therapy.

Speaker Biography:
Barbara Williams is a certified occupational therapist who currently ser
ves as the Associate Director, in the External and Regulatory Affairs Depar
tment for the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy, Inc
. (NBCOT®) where she has worked for over 7 years. In this capacity, she is
responsible for activities related to state regulation, international regul
atory services, and community outreach. Previous to employment with NBCOT,
Barbara served as Chair and Program Director for the Occupational Therapy P
rogram at the University of Southern Indiana.
