5:30 - 6:00 Registration and Northwest District meeting 6:00- 8:30 CE "A Condensed Course in Hand Anatomy and Rehabilitation" *Course will include a 15 minute break.
Course Description: Joni Armstrong is a registered occupational therapist and a certified hand therapist who has been treating hand and pediatric patients for over 30 years, receiving her hand therapy certification in 1991. Joni has taught many professional courses including topics, such as: Tendon Rehabilitation, Musician’s Hand Injuries, Arthritis, and many courses on Hand Rehabilitation, Splinting, and Pediatric Hand Splinting and Therapy. She has published professionally with a book chapter on pediatric hand splinting. She continues to teach hand rehabilitation and splinting at the University of North Dakota School of Medicine and Health Sciences. Joni currently sees hand and pediatric patients at Sanford Health in Bemidji. Learning Objectives: 1) Develop a working knowledge of hand anatomy including: Skin, Osteology, Joints, Vascularity, Nerves, Muscles, and Tendons. 2) Identify, understand, and treat common injuries and pathologies of the hand with use of modalities, exercises, splinting, and therapeutic activities. 3) Demonstrate the ability to use hand therapy techniques to enhance patient function at all ages.
Target Audience: Occupational Therapists, Occupational Therapy Assistants, and Occupational Therapy Students.
